NIKKI LAOYE COVERS EXTRA MILE AFRICA MAGAZINE - SUPPORTING PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES (PWDs) IN NIGERIA

 

Nigerian Soul Singer, Nikki Laoye is on the cover of the latest edition of Extra Mile Africa –  "the Voice of People with Disabilities (PWDs)".
The inspirational magazine focuses on Nikki's inspiring works under the auspices of her foundation, Angel 4 Life Foundation as she shares about the "International White Cane Day" for the Blind, which she helped organise with the Nigerian Association of the Blind (Lagos Chapter) as well as other community development projects aimed at the visually impaired and physically challenged youths in Lagos State.

Chris Ikemefuna Obanye, the magazine's Publisher/Editor-in-Chief, who is also physically challenged himself, created the magazine four years ago to project the achievements and challenges of persons with disabilities as well as the celebration of individuals and companies providing support & assistance for PWDs.

With the Motto: ONLY YOU CAN STOP YOURSELF, the Magazine also creates a platform to inform the public on the needs and challenges of PWDs as well as celebrate the lives of PWDs like Cobhams Asuquo, Steve Wonder, Yinka Ayefele etc. who have reached the zenith of their respective career as celebrities of national and international repute, irrespective of their physical challenges.

THE HEADIES 2013: CALL FOR ENTRY

The Headies, the most prestigious music awards in Nigeria, popularly tagged "The Nigerian Grammys" has opened its doors to receive music materials for nomination at the Eight edition of the prestigious music awards.

Entry requirements are
3 Audio CDs, 4 DVDs, 1 Mini DV, Artiste’s profile and a portrait photograph (soft copy).
Artistes are to submit the aforementioned materials at The Headies secretariat – No. 4, Ogundana Street, off Allen Avenue, Ikeja – Lagos.

Note that: only music materials released between March 2012 and June 2013 qualify for entry. The process opens October 14, 2013 and ends November 10, 2013.

The Beninese icon Angélique Kidjo returns to diva-dom with her album titled EVE as an ode to women across the continent. The collaboration rich Eve is set to be released  early next year through 429 records features the joint efforts of Vampire Weekend‘s Rostam Batmanglij, Kronos Quartet, NOLA legend Dr. John, as well as Kenyan and Beninese women’s choirs. The first single “Eva” (not to be confused with the album name) showcases a double dose of vocals from Nigerian/French soulstress Asa.

EVE - The ALBUM
On Eve, her highly anticipated Savoy Records debut named for her own mother as well as the mythical mother of all living, the Beninese born, Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter builds on this ever-evolving legacy with a 13-track, three interlude set of melodically rich, rhythmically powerful expressions of female empowerment. These songs become all the more intimate and emotionally urgent with Kidjos dynamic collaborations with traditional women s choirs from Kenya and various cities and villages in Benin. NIGERIAN GOSPEL MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS(2013) - THE OFFICIAL NOMINEES LIST.

After months of long rigorous screening exercise of over 250 gospel music videos submitted from different Nigerian Gospel Music Artists all over Nigeria and abroad, the judges and the organizers of the Nigeria Gospel Music Video Awards NGMVA have agreed to officially release this nominees’ list for the 2013 Nigeria Gospel Music Video Awards to the general public for the voting process to start.

The voting processes will run from 12pm Oct 25th 2013 to 12am Nov 25th 2013.

The aims of these awards are to identify and to celebrate people who have initiated positive changes in the Nigeria Gospel Music Industry; these changes are focused on improving the lives of the others through music performances. Also, to demonstrate that these awardees have the potentials to give Nigeria a face in the world at large

The awards ceremony will come up live on the 30th of November, 2013 from 1800 GMT at the prestigious Main Auditorium, University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos State, Nigeria This event will be viewed by millions of people all over the world through the Internet (Blogs social media platforms live streaming on YouTube channel, various websites and on other third party platforms.), Newspapers/Editorials, TV Stations, and Radio Stations.

EXCLUSIVE PHOTO:CHOCOLATE CITY 's COURT INJUNCTION PAPERS LEAKED ON INTERNET!!!

Wow!! And the plot thickens in the Chocolate City vs Brymo drama, as in a twist of events this morning, pictures of the said the court papers have appeared on the internet.

Earlier yesterday morning, news broke out that a court injunction has been taken against the Nigerian singer during the week. Chocolate City via their law firm,  L & A -Legal Consultants  have early this week gotten an injunction from the Federal High Court, restraining Brymo from recording, releasing, distributing any composition, song, musical works or carrying out any activity as a recording or performing artist through or for the benefit of any person or organization other than Chocolate City, pending the determination of the suit against him.

In the past few weeks,  Brymo has been tweeting and granting different interviews, telling all that he had walked away from his contract with CC, (which according to Chocolate City, remains valid until 2016) and did not care about the consequences.

Stories getting to us from our sources at the court, say that Chocolate City, through its lawyers tried everything possible to amicably resolve this matter, that infact the Arbitration clause in the recording contract was activated to avoid a court case and an Arbitrator was called up to settle the matter but Brymo refused to attend any of the settlement meetings. The record label , at this point seems to have had no other option but to protect their investment by going to court.

In response, Brymo put out a tweet yesterday, denying this new development, 

as he continued plans to release his new album, sometime today.

Its for real now though...Brymo at this junction either gets a lawyer or settles with his choc fam..
We do hope this matter is settled amicably soon enough...

WEDDING BELLS: TOP NIGERIAN GOSPEL ACTS, EBEN & JAHDIEL TO TIE THE KNOT ON NOVEMBER 30TH, 2013

Coming as a surprise to many is the news of the upcoming wedding between two of the most popular Nigerian Gospel Artistes, Eben & Jahdiel.

 By November 30, both of them won’t only be sharing the title ‘Gospel Music artiste’, but also the same surname, as they will be walking up the aisle together, in Lagos, Nigeria.

Eben and Jahdiel, who have been rumoured to be dating for a long while now, would finally bring to rest the rumors by tying the knot. The wedding ceremony and reception  is scheduled to take place in the Lekki Axis of Lagos.
Few days ago, Jahdiel recently released a single ‘Jara’ . Well, this is obviously one of the “jara’s” that follows by seeking God’s Kingdom.

The ‘heritage’ crooner, Grace Okoduwa, popularly known as Jahdiel, is a Nigerian gospel artist, Chemist and entrepreneur. She started singing as young as age five when she joined her Church’s choir and started playing the piano/keyboard at age 13. 

She stepped into the Nigerian music scene few years back and took it by storm with her classic hit single , "Heritage".

Emmanuel Benjamin, popularly known as EBEN, is a gospel rock artiste who has become a household name in Nigerian music industry. EBEN started singing in the youth choir of Winners’ Chapel in 1997, from where he went on to establish himself as one of the major vocalists in the mass choir. This resulted in him being a regular feature in the annual Shiloh events from 1999 – 2005.
In 2006, he joined Christ Embassy, and almost instantly became one of the regular faces on the Loveworld platform. Eben has appeared often in major events hosted by the ministry like the Night of Bliss held in major cities across Nigeria, and South Africa.

In May earlier this year, Eben released his third studio album ‘Justified’, a 15 track album that has caught the fancy of his fans across the globe.

MUSIC: BECKY ADAMS WANTS YOU TO "BERE MOLE"

Premiering today, is the debut single by female gospel artiste, Becky Adams. A call to dance and praise, "Bere Mole", produced by NF Jeezy, is the first official release from Becky, under her management, Nibbor Productions.   The video, being directed by El-gibbor,  is slated for release in January 2014.

Becky Adams started singing @ the age of eight in the congregation of over 2000 people in LFF chapel of Grace, Sokoto and the rest, as we say is history. Recently, Karl released a collection of songs which he created on his phone and named the EP Album..."MEOMP - MADE'EM ON MY PHONE", which is presently receiving great reviews across UK and making record sales on iTunes.

Talking about his recent video, "STADIUM MUSIC" out of the MEOMP pack, Karl says: "the whole idea of the track was to communicate the feeling I get when am out on tours and performing at festivals.  I simply wanted to bring that feeling to the streets. That uplifting, life affirming, joyful and victorious sound..."

And there you have it...another masterpiece from the music genius. who though he was born and bred in London, is proudly Nigerian.

"IKECHI'S COVENANT".

With cast and crew originating from the popular faith based youth oriented dance crew, ALIEN NATION, Ikechi's Covenant is the Epic African adaptation of the Biblical Samson and Delilah story but with loads of twists, turns and spectacular dances that will leave the audience guessing, gasping and cheering in delight.

The outstanding dance/drama tells the story of Ikechukwu, a mighty warrior ordained by God to deliver the people of "Umuchukwu" but also wrestles with his own weakness for wine and light-skinned women from the enemy town of "Ogbeguru". His weakness soon becomes his undoing but was it a well thought plan by his enemies or was it all ordained by God from the very beginning?
