#GRFireStarter is the new segment on Singer/Radio Host, Nikki Laoye's weekly radio show, "Girls Rock With Nikki Laoye", showcasing fast rising female Gospel artists blazing a new trail in the music industry.
This week, we have the young Singer/Songwriter, Blerisa (full name - Blessing Manafa) who started singing at the age of 5 and has a strong passion for music and song-writing.
The Statistics Undergraduate student of Yaba College of Technology is poised is to create music that would inspire people, especially youngsters like herself to live right and stay positive.
Blerisa stepped into the limelight when she became the winner of the ‘GREEN HUNT’ singing talent competition 2014 (maiden edition) organised by Greenland Music Production in Lagos Nigeria.
Her first single ‘Praise the Lord’ was released few weeks after at the age of 18 in 2014. The reggae/ alternative rock track was produced by Mr Wole Adesanya, also known as Mr Wols for Greenland Music Production.
Blerisa wrote ‘Praise the Lord’ in the quest of wanting to write something different from her other songs, as challenged by her mum (who is in full support of her music).
Her second single, ‘I Give My Heart’ is a ballad also written by Blerisa and produced by Mr Wols of Greenland Music Production.
‘I Give My Heart’ is a song of dedication to God’s service in a busy world, an inspiriational message to believers to stick to the path and course they have chosen..
